Good video. Just one suggestion, don’t Arm APR mode in the GFC500 until you’re cleared for the approach. Looked like you armed it , then ATC blew you through Final. If you didn’t disable APR mode , airplane would have started to turn onto final and ATC wouldn’t have been happy. You’re correct , Cirrus pilots are always in the way !!!! Cirrus N17$&& 10 mile staright in !!! That’s a classic at my home airport.
What plane is this
Talking to yourself while flying is considered a sign of sanity. Nice work Sir, and thanks for sharing your experience
I like your technique of putting redundant info into your second nav. I am in the process of having a similar setup installed in my 182.
Where did you get that IFR checklist?
That head mounted camera gave me spacial disorientation.
It’s all fun and games till the camera falls and hits a car and you get sued for the damage. But still, it’s a cool shot
Good video and piloting. Would be better with a fixed camera focused on the panel. Not much use having it on you. Too much movement. Just my .02
Look when the nose spins 😂
It's the turboprop engine not nose
Promo>SM
That was great thank you for video. Really useful with all the explanation.
Seeing a functioning autopilot in this tiny airplane is quite refreshing :)
I like your IFR checklist.
I’m not a pilot, but just watching this I don’t know how you can manage the workflow in that environment in that airplane without either an auto pilot or a copilot. If you were flying that trip entirely by hand, I don’t know how you do it.
nice
Dang nice landing my friend & enjoyed the vid
Nice job. If I had got revectored in IMC and then found the Wx down to minimums, not sure I’d be as collected as you were. Nice, nice, nice.
It helps that I had another 3 hours of fuel and couple other options for airports with better weather and lower minimums with 10-30 minutes flight distance. KPSM is about 12 miles south with 300 MSL minimum on the ILS and RNAV approaches, and an 11,000’ runway 😅
Nice. Kept your cool.
How come with the autopilot engaged and with I am sure not a smooth ride why aren't the yokes moving as the auto-pilot or pilot maintains stability and approach path?
It actually was a very smooth ride. Even though it was solid IMC the winds were relatively calm and not much lifting updraft in the low level Stratus layer. Fluffy Cumulus type clouds which were not in the forecast are a different beast.
What’s that chime sound at 0:18? Thanks for sharing!
He had the GFC-500 autopilot set to climb to and then capture 2,000 MSL. The GFC-500 chimes 200 feet before reaching its altitude preselect. You'll notice the chime was right at 1,800 MSL. Reaching an altitude preselect almost always means a manual power/configuration change is coming up, hence the chime.
I would LOVE to fly this airplane!!! having my instrument checkride here on May (hopefully) if the DPE doesn't reshedule.
You mean vmc? Congrats on your 1st solo.
mostly VMC but from 13:37 to 13:57 I was in IMC 😀
@@imarocker66probably felt like 5 minutes.
Single pilot ifr is tough! Good work! Checkride for my instrument in 2 months
Portsmouth is a great airport for practice approaches / touch and go's. Heck you can do 2 touch and goes without making a turn on that long runway.
Paramount Pictures is going to have its way with your hairless bottom
Wind socks on viagra, that's a 1st 😄
Excellent video
Nice video. I have the same setup. What gives you the airspeed callout?
GFC 500 Autopilot with Electronic Speed Protection (Under speed Protection - MINSPD)
Good job.
No illegal immigrants allowed on Martha's vineyard
Nothing beats that feeling of going low on an approach and seeing the approach lights and then the runway infront of you..
People actually do this on purpose, for fun. Huh.
Awesome video. Shows the importance of trimming :)
Vraiment très réaliste flight microsoft 2020, c'est assez incroyable.
Lmao
Complete sorcery. Nicely done.
i seems you changed your yoke if you did could you please tell me where it was purchased thank you

Hi "gparaski1", and greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Noticed what appears to be a rather well prepared "checklist" that is visible on your iPad and was wondering if this is something you are willing to share or if it is otherwise available on the open market somewhere. Good video - thank you! Best regards, Randy
its my own checklist - I can't seem to send a message though youtube. Go to instagram.com/gparaski1/ Send me a private message and I can email the file to you.
Cool video! Had you called ATC before takeoff for clearance?
Yes, I called Boston TRACON for takeoff clearance on my phone prior to taxi. Unfortunately, I did not have the camera on at that point.
yup it has been busy winds all year at kdaw, was at my hanger couple weeks ago watching windsock doing 360 Pirouettes gusting 30-35
very impressive plane handling skills and use of all available resources - you always stayed ahead of the plane in a stressful environment - kudos on ajob well done
what's your 75% power cruise speed?
Epic views mate
12 Killer! My favorite airplane to fly.
Flew right over my house!
Beautiful IFR work in a nice equipped 172 Skyhawk with a Auto pilot which makes single engine pilot work load more reliable and safe
My dad retired from Barnes..104th FW/ 131st FS Westfield Massachusetts he was there from 77-2000…retired E-8…Great Video!
this just popped up on my feed. awesome video.
thanks for watching!
Nice demonstration of single pilot work. Appreciated the verbalized checklist throughout. Your example really highlights the visibility requirements and how they change from launching to return to base.
are you experiencing any issues with the G5s and GFC 500 ? I have the same set up with a GNS530W - i get intermittent drops - G5s and GFC not playing nice with the 530 - its a pretty common issue - Garmin is denying it - but I know others with the same issue - wondering if you are in that camp ?
The GTN650 is installed in this aircraft. I haven’t noticed any issues with this setup. Sorry to hear you’re having troubles.
Great skill
Great video!! Well done!!
Thanks so much!
